Customer: Are you pregnant sweetie?
Me: (stunned, a little insulted and embarrassed) No mam' why do I look pregnant? (wondering in my head how I possibly look pregnant with just losing 8 pounds, thinking to myself I'm never wearing this dress again)
Customer: Oh no mam, your as skinny as a toothpick (haha...not quite-I wish!) You just have that 'glow' about you...
Me: Oh no mam, that's just my sunburned nose (sighing in relief that it's not because I 'look' pregnant...I was really loving this dress but thinking in my head how fast this dress would go in the back of my closet if she said it was because I 'looked' pregnant)
In the four years I've been trying to get pregnant, I have never been asked this question. I've been asked a lot if I thought I was or when will I get pregnant, but never 'are you pregnant' by a complete stranger. I'm not sure if being asked this made me happy or sad, or a little of both. I liked being compared to a toothpick although that's far from true, it felt nice to be told I had a 'glow' even though it was just my nose that's as bright as Rudolph's. But it did make me a little sad because everything in me wanted to say 'why yes I am' and well that would be a flat lie...
So...in the mean time I will make sure I wear even more sunblock to avoid my sunburn being confused with the 'glowing' of a pregnant women, and hopefully the next time someone thinks I'm pregnant I can answer 'yes'! :)

Or..... maybe this is a sign of what's yet to come?????? :) Love ya girl!!
Focus on the fact that she said you're skinny as a tooth pick! (Which I'm sure you are).
I do hope that the next time someone ask you that question, you can glowing answer Yes!
hmmm, I'm not sure what to think about this. I have lots of thoughts. 1. HOW BRAVE to ask someone that. I think it's kind rude to ask someone that. 2. I never understood "pregnant glow" What the heck does that even mean? No one glows! Fireflies glow, NOT humans! That is the stupidest saying ever that pregnant women glow even though I know it's been around forever. 3. I feel like it must be a reminder from God that he hasn't forgotten about you. I am positive you will have your miracle. And who knows... maybe you are and just don't know it yet? Love ya!
Hi Tiffany,
I agree with Melody! It must have been a reminder from God that he hasn't forgotten about you!
I'm right there with ya girl! Just left a get-together with some of my teacher friends and oh course they all wanted to know if I had any "news." Very sweet, yes, but sad for me that I didn't.
Praying for you!

Tiff.. you are going to be the most glowing pregnant girl ever! I pray that it happens soon!!
I say take it as a compliment, that you just look adorable, and forget it. It was a jarring moment but just means you look too cute from a bumbling, well-meaning stranger....
I thought I commented on this already, but I guess not :)
You are absolutely glowing all the time...you are the sweetest person ever! Sometimes ppl just don't know what they say can be inappropriate.
I wore a baby doll shirt one time and a few ladies that I knew asked me if I was pregnant.
Hey, I've been a "lurker" here for a while....but wanted to comment today and let you know that I'm praying for you!!
Hi- I am new to blogging. Just wanted to say hi and that I enjoy learning from you and others about infertility, as I am going through the same thing. Please feel free to follow me. -Jess: http://jesstryingtoconceive.blogspot.com/
I think of you every day sweetie. I pray some day you'll be able to say yes. :) (((HUGS)))
I don't think I have ever commented but I check in periodically. I just wanted to tell you that my sis and her husband have been struggling with infertility for 6 years. She just found out she is 6 weeks pregnant and has heard the heartbeat and everything! And the best part, it happened naturally! I just wanted to share in hopes that it would give you more hope.
I've never understood why people ask women questions like that, esp pregnant questions. When Rylie was littlier she used to call every girl a "Mommy" & I had to nip that in the bud. I was so afraid she would yell Mommy at someone in a store & offend someone who may be trying to become a Mommy or something. So many things to think about but not everybody realizes how harmful they can be without even trying.
Maybe this is a sign girl!! You deserve to answer "Yes!" Praying for you!!
