Our 'pregnancy' story

This cycle has been a little bit of a challenge...it started off smooth. We didn't tell anyone, we had the opportunity to do our transfer fairly quickly after our D&C and although it was a hard choice to move on right away we both knew it was what we wanted. We didn't tell our jobs, family, anyone...I had 2 friends who knew. That was it. Keeping it a secret this time was a little easier than last time; not only were we scared we didn't want anyone to worry as well.

On August 28th Zach and I went in for our transfer where they transferred 3 perfect embryos...I was off for about a week, complete bed rest. I started testing like I always do and within days knew it took...but would it last was the question?

Roughly at 4 weeks pregnant I starting spotting; fearing the worst and just needing answers I went in for an ultrasound. My husband was out of town so thankfully my best friend Ashley rushed over to go to the doctor with me; that was when we saw one perfect sac! The Dr really couldn't explain what the spotting was from but he advised me to just take it easy...

I spotted off and on for a couple more weeks...around 6 and half weeks I went to the restroom and realized I was losing alot of blood....I panicked! Called Zach immediately and he rushed me to the ER. I had to have some fluids pumped in me and a catheter put in me for an ultrasound...again I expected the worse! With that amount of blood I knew it was over. To our surprise there was a perfect little baby with a heart beating of 124 beats per minute.

I went in for an appt at 8 weeks and everything looked great, my Dr saw a small hemorrhage spot near my placenta and said that could be where the blood was coming from...the baby's heart was now around 165bpm and everything was progressing perfectly....since I was still spotting he wanted to keep me vs. releasing me to my OBGYN in town. I went back at 10 weeks where Zach and I got to see our baby move, it waved at us...I believe that's the moment it sunk it that 'this is real'....our baby's heart beat at that time was around 181 and everything looked amazing. I went back yesterday for my last appt with my RE, my 12 week appt. The baby was great! Heart beat of 171.

As of right now I am not spotting anymore; but I can't tell you the fear every time I go potty.

Have you seen 'What to expect when expecting?' You know the lady who tried for a while and she had what she referred to was an 'Ugly pregnancy' (Gas, bloating, burping, acne, sickness....?) Yea, that's me! All of it! I knew people had pregnancy's where they didn't feel good at times, but I always pictured myself having a 'pretty' one....HAHA! Who was I kidding? I am very happy to say this pregnancy is an 'ugly one'...I burp like a man! Pass gas when I don't even mean too! Sound like I'm dying in the mornings when I'm throwing up! Can only eat a handful of things--pickles are my lifesaver! I can't sleep at all, but yet I'm tired all the time! IT'S A PRETTY NASTY AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I wanted this, I prayed for this...I wanted the reassurance every day that my baby was still fighting....and I GOT IT!! I can't complain, although it's not really fun, it's what I needed to keep me sane!

So please say a little prayer that this little bean stays holding on tight and that momma has no more spotting!

I am absolutely THRILLED! I wanted to ask if you were transferring again but I didn't want to make things harder for you. I knew you would tell us when the time was right. I can't even tell you how excited I am! I'm almost as excited as when I found out I was pregnant! I'm so glad I met you and can read your pregnancy story with you! My pregnancy with Bailey was beautiful! My pregnancy with Adilyn was a nightmare of vomiting, headaches, and all the other crud. It's all so worth it though!

Congratulations! I am over-the-moon for you. I've been reading your blog for several years. Oh, and I think you're having a girl from the heart rate and the fact that you're not feeling "pretty". I hope it gets better, but I am so thrilled to be able to "read" along this journey with you.

Thanks be to God!

Keep your feet up and lots of rest. I stopped lifting and excercise, and just was really gentle with myself. I walk now from time ro time, so yeah im having an ugly prefnancy too for lack of working out but its worth it! Congrats!!! Ahhhh!

I spotted for weeks 9-12 with my son also. I know how scary that is. Praying for your reassurance that your sweet miracle baby is felt in "prettier" ways.

I know its not easy but hang in there. I spotted on and off the whole first trimester. At 10 weeks I had a gush of blood and heavy bleeding and after one loss already I was certain I was losing this baby as well. I also had every symptom in the book. Everything was totally worth it and my baby boy will be 3 months on Halloween.

Don't feel like you can't say it sucks to feel yucky!! We all know you will take it in a heart beat to be parents... I remember feeling guilty that I felt so icky but didn't want people to think I was ungreatful for the amazing experiance!!! I am so thrilled for you and I am sorry you feel yucky!!! Try dry cereal and smoothies. Smoothies go down easy and come back up cold so it doesn't hurt so bad and taste so awful. Also buy a few paper plates, doing dishes while pregnant is my gagger trigger... And lastly, I agree with the other gal, sounds like you are having a girl with that heart rate and the sickies!!!! I am still having an ugly pregnancy!! Just two months to go!!!

We were just talking about that movie at Rylies dance today and I said my friend's been trying for so long & just announced shes pregnant and hopefully she's not like that lady on the movie! lol I love that scene where she wet her pants before going on stage and had to change dresses with the other lady. Hoping you have a smoother road!!

I know exactly what you're going through. After we tried and tried, had two miscarriages, did IUIs and finally conceived the twins after our first round of IVF, I was terrified something awful would happen! And I bled and bled my first trimester, pretty much. LIke you, the doctor saw a subchorionic hematoma, and said that was probably what the bleeding was from. The last time I bled, it was bad and I knew I was miscarrying, at least one of the babies, but all was fine. WE think it was the hematoma bleeding out. Anyway, I also know what you mean about welcoming all the yucky stuff. It's not fun, but it's all part of the process we've waited so long for! I'm so excited for you and Zach! KNow that what you're experiencing is so normal and sounds like everything is right on track! YAY! And you're only 8 weeks or so, behind me!

I was SO excited when I saw your post come up on my blog feed! I am sooo happy for you guys!!! What a miracle!! I do too remember spotting quite early on..on and off until about 12-15 weeks or so if I remember right, and it is scary! Especially with everything you and your husband have been through. I truly couldn't be happier for you though!! It IS real!! =)
