The birth story ❤

Tuesday the 15th right before bedtime Zach checked my blood pressure, it was 170/103...we waited a little while and checked it again and now it was 190/110. We threw our clothes on and off we went to labor & delivery.

Once we were there they monitored me for a couple hours before they decided I would be staying overnight to do a 24 hour protein test, Thursday morning we got the news that there was a sufficient amount of protein in my urine and I needed to be induced.

Thursday evening my Dr came in and put a balloon in my cervix to help me dilate, by Friday morning I was dilated to a 4...they started pitocin as well as magnesium to prevent seizures during labor since my blood pressure was so high. ((Let me just say magnesium is awful!! I saw about 3 of everything and my whole labor and 24 hours after was such a blur because of this))

I dilated to a 6 pretty fast, however stayed there for a long time...so long I was begging for a c-section the next time he checked me if he didn't have good news. I did get the epidural, however it stopped working on me-so I was starting to feel my bottom half again (no Bueno!!!!). Thankfully when my Dr came in around 6:30 I was 9.2 and 30 minutes later I was a 10!!

Pushing was hard, I had absolutely no energy due to the magnesium drip...I truly thought I would be pushing for hours. However 40ish minutes later here he can , perfect as ever at 7:58pm weighing 7lbs 5oz and 20.5 inches long. I had a 3rd degree tear and had to be cut so recovery was rough, but all the pain in the world would have been worth seeing that precious face!!

Miles lost over 10% of his body weight so we had to stay in the hospital an extra night. We finally got Mr Miles back up to 7lbs even and I'm anxious to see what he weighs at his 2 weeks checkup this Friday!

Being a mother is more than I could have ever imagined. I could sit and stare at him all day long. I absolutely adore him, and watching my husband be a father melts my heart. ❤

Here are a couple pictures taken in the hospital ❤

I am over the moon happy for you and your husband. Miles is adorable and I love his little grin. I hope you are feeling well and getting some much needed rest and recovery time. Enjoy your new precious blessing. I just had our 6th baby on the 12th of April and all the emotions and feelings you mentioned going through are still fresh in my mind. It is an awesome feeling knowing you helped create this little being!! All the best! :)

I don't believe I have ever commented on your blog before but I have followed for a while. I just wanted to say congratulations on your little man! He is adorable. I love reading birth stories and this one brought some tears to my eyes. I remember when I held my girl for the first time after a long struggle with infertility....best moment ever. Good job mama!

So happy for you and Zach.. Miles is perfect!! Your L&D sounds so much like my first with Kam. The magnesium is awful, I hated it so much. Kam was in a fog for the first week as well.

So exciting. I have to say in the long run I think you'll be better not having the c-section. Its just a hot day here and it's been almost 1 year later and my c-setion incision is causing discomfort.

Not that tearing and having to be cut wasn't icky enough. :)

Enjoy every minute of that little one.
